4 coin GAE proof set, 2006- evaluate
evaluate the price for this product
http://catalog.usmint.gov/webapp/wcs...3656&langId=-1 http://catalog.usmint.gov/wcsstore/C.../Z65_large.jpg gold is about $630 today and this is 1.85 total oz of gold. 630x1.85 is 1165.50. is the $329.50 premium over bullion price too much to pay? How do these proof sets historically fare in terms of premium over bullion? |
Re: 4 coin GAE proof set, 2006- evaluate
Hey, Anty Ep:
The price holds up pretty well. Do a quick sold search on eBay. That is a good way to tell what the market is willing to pay. Also, those Eagles are proof condition so there are fewer of them minted, and for those 2 reasons garner a higher premium. I accept them as gifts, but I do not buy them. I would rather buy a pre '33 gold coin instead as their historic value is easily tracked and researchable. That and the designs are better than what the mint produces today. The Great Ag |

I must think so. I bought a set in Mar/05 for $1270, which would have been a huge premium over spot.

I should say these are good coins. I am biased in that I prefer pre' 33 gold coins, but these bullion coins are good, and have held their value over time, and have become collectible. Excuse my bias. The Great Ag |
